Little shining star, Ujeneza Synthia!

She will be a new generation of HOPE in Rwanda
Matthew 18:5 - "... and whoever welcomes a little child like this in My name, welcomes Me."

Ujeneza Synthia. She is a little star from Rwanda. She was borned on 25th May 2005, now living in an HIV affected area with her family - parents and a brother. Sometimes, her father is hired to work in farmlands, so does her mother. Otherwise, they are unemployed.

Ujeneza is atteding kindergarten, with an average performance in class. She goes to Church regularly. Loving all ball games with friends. At home, she plays with her dolls.

This child, prayerfully, will be a new generation, among many others, bringing forth hope and breaking the curse of in Rwanda.

Poverty is…

...when you endlessly deprive of food, having nothing, absolute nothing to fill you and you are powerless, yet surrounded by many of the same.

...when you have no shelter, no refuge during thunderstorm still you stroll on the street aimlessly, at each corner
you see lonely souls, downcast alike.

...when you have nothing to shield you from glaring mid-day sun or keep you warm from cold winter night, everywhere you turn to you see nakedness.

I asked, why, why is there poverty?. While hunger, homeless, clothless.... are the very symptoms of poverty, but what, what is the root? Wess Stafford answered. He stunned me. Hear him and hear him well.

Never at all it occurs to me that Poverty springs from HOPELESSNESS - in the heart of a child when he/she believes that I have no future, I am worthless, I do not matter, I am garbage, I have no control, I am not loved. Scary that poverty in a society revolves endlessly in a circle - a curse, when generation after generation believes in the unrelenting lies of the above.

How then shall we break the cycle of poverty?

There are millions, millions in poverty everywhere, I know I am powerless toward the millions. But one, if a tiny little seed of HOPE is planted in a child’s heart, it will indeed breaks the cycle. For a new generation is birthed next. That's incredibly wonderful.

My heart is touched. My hand is moved!

Breakfast Symphony

wooooo hooo…
It’s the first morning of my three weeks break! Not a yearly affair, perhaps decennium. Stepping out from my bedroom, I was faithfully greeted by my muso, Kuta. Acknowledging him with a peck on his cheek, I freshened up before marching to the kitchen.

Beethoven filled my spirit this morning.

La Big-Breakfast Sonata was on mind. Main movement, sunny side up omega eggs over toasted baguettes with smoked bacon, accompanied by sautéed porcini mushrooms and grilled cherry tomatoes as the entremets. Served with freshly squeezed orange juice and perfectly brewed coffee being the grand finale. What a masterpiece it would be, I imagined!

I set out in action. Fifteen minutes later, the composition was ready to be played. Not so like I imagined but I love it. Listen.

Newly composed-piece!
The plain toasts were a little roasted, but nonetheless crisped. Buttered and berried, to be.
The invigorating aroma of my silky black coffee hung in the air. Sugared and milked, to be.

Ready to be devoured!
All the while, Kuta sat on the frosty marble kitchen-top, watching and waiting. Waiting for his breakfast, AvoDerm, his very premium food. He instantaneously charged towards the saucer as I replenished.

Waiting
While he was smacking his, I was savoring mine. Moment later, a harmonious symphony of gratification was orchestrated. Meooooww… Brrrupppp…..Meeeeoooow … Brrurrrpprrrrrrppyyyyy..… I meowed. He burped.

Meowing and Burping... in synchronization
Later, on the couch with my book and Kuta lazing beside me, I was envisaging tomorrow’s symphonic breakfast.

*Ooppss.. did I say I meowed :-P*

Saving FACE at Genting Sempah

Our Play-Route
Gombak - Genting Sempah, the play-route for most novices, just like me. Invitation accepted. Bike polished, tires pumped. Bottle filled, helmet aired. Shoes laced, attire freshened. What else? I was quite prepared, I thought, till I scanned bikers at the meeting point with speed and cadence sensors, heart-rate monitor and positioning system. Me, rookie was not Polar’ed! But I reasoned, I followed Kitty who had them all! Kitty was powered-gel too.

Flying Machines
Slightly after eight, we hit the road. I rode bearing a smiley face as it seemed flat visually.  In the crispy morning, all well for the first 5km, through some kampungs with light traffic at Route 68. Easy.

Shortly, I was gasping heavily and wheezing deeply. And yes, yes, we were snaking up the hill then. Whheee… brrruuu…  My rhythmic breathing for the next 16km. Kid you not! HHhmm…  rather, kid me not! Effortlessly and chattily, Kitty and Ewan were tailing me, perhaps to ensure that I would not go backward!
With my dying strength, I pedaled. With my diminishing power, I pedaled. With my fainting might, I pedaled. Never had I been so determined. So very determined NOT LOSE FACE! Finally, I let-out a glorious sigh of relief! Phew! I was at the top.

But soon, I cry-out a furious sigh of stress! Fhew! A winding descent. A dangerous descent. A deadly descent. Yet I was still very determined, I would SAVE MY FACE.

Body balanced, gear lowered, brake engaged! I was tumbling downhill, literally, Kitty witnessed. But without a scratch, I ended where I begun.

What an incredible experience of my prodigious ride!

Chill thereafter, Ewan smiling broad

Who’s the Sexy Chick of Ericsson?

Thought very least to be nominated among all the sexy Chicks.
Sporty Chick, confidence magnified.
But sexy? Me, sexy?

That night tremendous pressure was laid upon me to re-instate the sexiness of femininity. Upon arrival, panic-struck as I was not groomed to glide on the velvety red carpet let alone to strike a killer pose. Shyly, I stepped in. Alien-faces smiled, hailed. I promptly returned the same, only seconds later recognizing them. They transformed at the Red Carpet!

And yes, it's me, in the limelight, exultantly yet timidly I held the trophy high in my heart.

My SEXY Trophy
But when million stroboscopic flashes from paparazzi eventaully faded away, trillion questions arose.

Does sexiness always mean erotically arousing? I hope NOT, as I had a dekko at the trophy.

What makes a woman sexy, one wearing a décolleté dress with blossomed cleavage, perhaps a micro-skirt with stilettos, or a bikinied woman with full-blown boobs and well-toned tush? Perhaps all. But with my “flirtatious” barebacked dress, that’s sexy too.

Is a sexy goddess irrefutable beautiful as well? NO! Pamela Anderson! But the mistress of seduction is both sexy and beautiful. Angelina Jolie!

What power does a sexy woman has upon a man? To paralyze! To impair! To slaughter! Very destructive indeed! Legend says, such is a man’s kryptonite.

Still countless questions clouded my mind. But I decided to ponder no further, as each person has own self panoramic view of sexiness. Just plainly for me, my desire is to be sexily charming to the one who matters, yet modestly attractive to all who crossed my path. All in all, may my euphoric sexy cocktail is more than an evanescent sensation.

As I enter this Season of Love!

Beautifully lighted Bintang Walk of Kuala Lumpur
Today, strolling down the bustling street of Bintang Walk, it dawned on me with the twinkling and jingling that the season of giving is approaching. Thus, also signifying the soon ending of an eventful year and a hopeful year is awaiting.

Stepping into Pavilion, I gazed in awe at the gigantic red tree, gracefully embellished proudly taking its center-stage failing not to capture the admiration of all who passes by. For a moment, time stopped! I was completely lost in the grandeur of all surround. Not long, just rightly, the ticking continued.
The towering Red at Pavillion
As I joined the frenzy gift-hunting crowd in Tangs, a petit lady in a bluish body-hugging dress, with a soft silhouette, swiftly passed me. Attracting me was the joyful glow on her face. Reflexively, I traced her footsteps, in search of a gift, I guessed. Soon proved right. With her capacious tote bag lugging on one hand, with another she lifted victoriously, in her eyes the one piece that would end all other hunt. Rejoiced having it wrapped, bearing a hopeful smile she stepped away, knowing that this gift represent all of her, her love.

I wondered, do I have “Love” to love

This led me to ponder over the first Gift of Love. From Bethlehem! One I have unwrapped, yet from season to season put me in complete adoration. Perhaps, how I have been dearly loved, will leave me with love, a love worth giving!

With my favorite carol, Oh Little Town of Bethlehem, filled the air and magically warmed my heart in the icy mall, I gratefully whispered to the Giver, “Thank You for Christmas!” Along with thanksgiving, I secretly wished for the many good things to come.

1 John 4:19 - We love, because He first loved us.
